Level 5 Leader in Residential Childcare Apprenticeship
The Level 5 Leader in Residential Childcare Apprenticeship is designed for managers, deputy managers, and aspiring leaders who are responsible for running residential childcare settings. This programme develops advanced knowledge, skills, and behaviours to lead teams effectively, ensure compliance with statutory frameworks, and deliver safe, nurturing, and high-quality care for children and young people.
As part of the programme, learners must hold or complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, a qualification required by Ofsted for registered managers and leaders within residential settings. This ensures apprentices are fully compliant with regulatory expectations while preparing them to take on the legal and operational responsibilities of leadership.
The apprenticeship focuses on leadership, safeguarding, staff development, quality assurance, therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches, and working in partnership with external agencies. It equips leaders to create a positive, child-centred culture that promotes stability, resilience, and improved outcomes for children and young people in residential care.
Successful completion supports Ofsted compliance, strengthens professional practice, and provides a nationally recognised route for progression into senior leadership roles within residential childcare.
